Graduate Tuition & Expenses

Graduate Student Cost of Attendance

Graduate student cost of attendance (COA) is composed of both direct and indirect costs. Direct costs, including tuition, fees, and University health insurance coverage*, will be reflected on your billing statement from the University. Indirect costs, including housing, food, books & supplies, travel expenses, and miscellaneous personal expenses, will not be reflected on your bill but are expenses we expect students to incur and therefore reflected in your total estimated cost of attendance.
*Students who have sufficient health insurance coverage of their own are able to opt out of the University health insurance plan before the start of each academic year. Additional information can be found through the University Health Service website.

Direct Costs

Direct costs will vary based on your program of study and how many credits you are enrolled in for a given semester. Please visit the Bursar’s Office website to determine the per-credit hour or full-time tuition rate for your school/program, as well as any associated fees.  Your program’s website will provide details on how many total credit hours are required for completion of the program, which you can use to determine a rough estimate of total tuition over the course of your studies.  Please keep in mind that tuition and fees typically increase by 3-5% each new academic year.

Indirect Costs

Indirect costs are based on our estimates of local cost of living, as well as typical books & supplies costs.  The items listed below are for a standard 9-month cost of attendance comprising the Fall and Spring semesters.  Students enrolled in Summer semester coursework will have a higher cost of attendance which will factor in both direct and indirect costs for the Summer. Summer semester is a trailer at the ÂÒÂ×Ç¿¼é, meaning it is the final semester of each academic year. For example, the 2023-2024 academic year covers Fall 2024, Spring 2025, and Summer 2025.

**If your cost of living is higher than our estimates, and can be documented via a lease agreement/mortgage statement, utility bills, etc., we encourage you to contact your financial aid counselor. Individuals’ indirect cost of attendance may be adjusted on a case-by-case basis, if documentation of living expenses can be provided.

Certain costs cannot be considered in a student’s indirect cost of attendance, as only educationally-related expenses can be included. Items which cannot be considered include credit card payments, moving expenses, job search expenses, professional development/conference and associated travel costs, and other non-educational expenses.
